‘Ready to unlock your inner slam poet? Join our in-person workshop where you’ll dive into the world of poems, rhyme, and rhythm! Perfect for 11-16yr olds who want to explore expressing themselves through words. Come along, have fun, and discover the poet within you!
Was Shakespeare the first rapper? Well, not officially, but as you will see when we collaborate to playfully jigsaw-puzzle our words together in certain ways, we can manipulate rhythm and sound to enjoy the musicality of poetry! In this two-hour workshop, young people will have the chance to enjoy playful readings of some amazing poems before taking part in fun exercises to create their own in a supportive environment designed to boost confidence and creativity.
All welcome, no prior experience required. This event is offered free of charge thanks to a Penguin Children’s Bookshop Grant 2026.’
If you need to ask a question or discuss if your child has any specific needs/requirements we will do our very best to accommodate everyone. Please email thebookstoppembs@hotmail.com
