HaverHub is delighted to host a screening of Woman Grows Jeans – a ground-breaking documentary that tells the story of the UK’s first pair of homegrown jeans.

When textile activist Justine Aldersey-Williams joined forces with designer and BBC Great British Sewing Bee judge Patrick Grant, they set out to grow flax and indigo in Lancashire and create jeans entirely from British soil. What began as an ambitious experiment became a profound journey into heritage skills, community collaboration, and the future of fashion.

Through 600 hours of sowing, spinning, dyeing, weaving, and sewing, Justine and a network of volunteers made history. The resulting film is not just about a pair of jeans – it’s about resilience, regeneration, and reimagining our relationship with clothing in a world dominated by fast fashion.

Woman Grows Jeans is BAFTA Albert certified and has been celebrated by the UK Green Film Network. It’s both a love letter to traditional skills and a call to action, proving that the power to create change is still in our hands.
